assailants tied youth
to tree trunk before shooting him dead
Unidentified assailants had tied a youth to a tree trunk
before shooting him in his head from a point blank range during the intervening
night in North Kashmir's Sopore town, some 55 kms from here, a police official
said on Sunday.
Pictures received by Kashmir Dispatch show a dead Abid Wani
tied to a tree trunk in a Nigli, some 2 kms from his home in town's Krankshivan
colony.
A police official said they were informed about a
bullet-riddled body in forested on the fringes of the town. "The youth was
shot from a point blank range in his head and stomach and was tied to a tree
trunk," he confirmed.
Abid, 24, sources said had left his home in the evening on
Saturday and had not returned. He was a
final year graduation student, his brother Arif told Kashmir Dispatch.
Arif said he was away to attend a marriage when the
information about his brother's death came. "My family is in hospital. I
don't much," he said.
Sources in the police said that he was a former over ground
worker of the Lashkar-e-Toiba and was close to a slain commander Muzamil Ahmad.
But, there was no confirmation on the claim by independent sources.
His body was taken to
sub district hospital for post mortem.
