Sentencing Kashmiris
reflects India's inhuman mindset
SRINAGAR: In
occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Mohammad
Yasin Malik reacting to the award of life sentences to four Kashmiris by an
Indian court has said that the act shows the inhuman mindset of India against the
people of Kashmir. According to Kashmir Media Service, Mohammad Yasin Malik
said this while addressing a big gathering at Khanqa-e-Mualla in Srinagar. He
pointed out that India was hell bent upon pushing Kashmiris to the wall through
judiciary.
Hurriyet
leaders including Yasmeen Raja, Zamurda Habib and Farida Behanji in their media
interviews deplored the verdict terming it as sheer violence of justice. A
court of Rajasthan recently sentenced Abdul Ghani Goni, Lateef Ahmad Waja and
Syed Nisar Mirza to life on fake charges despite they were acquitted by a Delhi
court last year. Hurriyet leaders including Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Zafar Akbar
Butt, Javed Ahmad Mir, Syed Bashir Andrabi and Muhammad Yousuf Naqash along
with separate delegations during their visits to flood-devastated areas of
Srinagar, Islamabad and Pattan criticized Indian authorities and agencies for
harassing the volunteers, busy in carrying out relief activities in the
territory.
large number of people assembled in the
Handwara main chowk of Kupwara district to memorise the massacre of 27
civilians, who were subjected to indiscriminate firing by Indian troops on 1st
October in 1990 victims. Thousands of people participated in the prayers
outside the martyrs' graveyard. The devastating floods apart from damaging
houses, public and private infrastructure also displaced hundreds of orphans in
Srinagar city. For most of these children, who were already suffering, the
floods have added to their trauma.
